Application Documents
Program Application
we do not accept the ASDP or CAP Standardized Application Form
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal statement
- Letters of recommendation emailed directly to the program (4 maximum)
- USMLE or COMPLEX score reports (all Steps) – non-official copies are accepted
- ECFMG Certificate (IMG applicants only) – J-1 Visa holders; we do not accept the HIB visa
- Photograph (.jpg or .jpeg format)
We request .pdf documents that are not password protected. All applications will be reviewed by our Program Director, Dr. Christopher Shea, and our dermatopathology faculty members. Invitations for interview are tentatively extended to September 14. Submit your electronic documents to the Dermatology Education Coordinator.
Second Position
We have a second position that is unfunded and an applicant must provide a letter of independent source of support, as well as the other application documents. The Letter of Support must:
- Be on official letterhead
- Confirm that the institution will pay the prevailing stipend and fringe benefit costs. For 2025-2026, those costs total approximately $99,840
- Confirm that the institution will pay the University of Chicago directly for the entire 12-month period of training, July 1 through June 30
- Stipulate that the funding is expressly for dermatopathology fellowship training at the University of Chicago
ASDP Application Process
Our program participates in the ASDP application process which is in lieu of a matching program. This is an effort to establish more uniformity and fairness for both fellowship applicants and fellowship programs. This process applies to external candidates only. We do NOT accept the Standard Application Form; our form is linked in the Quick Links bar to the left.
